KAZ- HEALTH INSURANCE IN MIGRATION

According to the Rules for Issuing Temporary Residence Permits, approved by Order No. 992 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 4, 2015, foreign nationals are required to submit a copy of a valid contract for compulsory health insurance (health insurance).

So, based on the Paragraph 6 of Article 35 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Migration” and the Paragraph 6 of Article 26 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan - in order to conclude an employment contract foreign nationals should have a valid contract for compulsory health insurance. Moreover, if the health insurance policy is issued for a period of less than one year, the temporary residence permit (TRP) will be issued only for the duration of the insurance coverage, regardless of the term specified in the employment contract.

However, the citizens of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), namely Russia, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are exempt from the health insurance requirement due to the fact that the employment of EAEU citizens within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan is regulated by the national legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
